OH MY! where did the time go?

I can't be-leave it's been over a year since my last post.  My goal for 2014 is to do a better job and keep this blog updated.  This past year Penny's Patches has seen some amazing changes.  For one, Penny's Patches now has a Face Book page.  The response has been over whelming!!  Secondly, Molly (my long arm) is no longer in our home and now resides at 139 Canton St. Troy PA.  The new brick and mortar location is amazing.  I now have class room space and can accommodate up to 9 comfortably or 11 if there is a need.  Molly now has her own area and the support from my friends and the local community has been heartwarming.  It wasn't an easy transition for me with the aspect of my turn around time.  When Molly was here at the house I would find myself working 12 sometimes 13 hour days, 7 days a week.  Now, with a lock and key location, I have set hours. My turn around time has gotten longer and it still 6 months later bothers me a lot.   But, the adjustment was well worth the cost.  I now get to spend more time with my family and spoil our new grand daughter.  With Christmas behind us and the New Year just days away I will try and update this blog more.   Watch for upcoming events to be held here or at Penny's Patches Face Book Page.  If you have Face Book, please come and join in on the fun.  As always, you can find me on the web at http://www.pennyspatches.com   I hope 2014 brings you lots of health, wealth and happiness.  Until next time Peaceful Piecing.

When a quilter passes away

Randy and I drove to Nj to pick up the things left to me by a dear friend. Sharon lost her battle to cancer and wanted me to have her quilting things. It was so hard to sort her things and pick what I wanted. After many tears and hugs, it took her husband and I over 3 hours to finish packing things up and loading them into the truck.

So, here is what years of collecting fabric, planning projects and dieing before you had a chance to finish them looks like.

What your looking at are 41 quilt kits that she put together. If you look really close you can see where she put a photo copy of the project and all the fabric needed to make the top into large bags.

This is a pile of fabrics, my guess would be that they were intended as quilt backs. There is no cut there less then 9 yards.

This is a tub of 1930 reproduction

And this was the Sun Bonnet Sue that was on top. There are 20 blocks total, all needle turn appliqued and a few embroidered.

This is 5 years subscription of Austrlian Patchwork and Quilting magazine.

Here we have her Y2K charms that she left in the envlopes and never put together. I am going to put them into a quilt and give it to her husband as a gift. There was so much more the it was imposable to take photos of it all. I has taken me 2 days to put it all away, and my husband had to put more shelves in my cabnet. There are 3 more rubber maid tubs and 2 boxes that I havent even opened yet.
